I love this watch, it arrived very fast and in good condition. The watch comes in a box with protective wrappers on the screen. The watch is very user friendly and was purchased mainly for diving but has a variety of other functions which can be used for anything including snowmobiling, hikes, boating. The navigation on the watch is very easy to read but a screen protector would be recommended.

I have been looking for this watch since I started diving 25 years ago! The watch is exceptional, works seamlessly underwater, has very fast refresh underwater for the computer and compass, and really knocks it out of the park with the GPS location function for beginning and ending of dives. It monitors temp, heart rate – along side of all the other profile stuff. On the surface, it is also an awesome fitness watch, again with the added benefit of a GPS for tracking of your workouts, etc. I love the recharging ability so when I travel, I can know it is fully charged and ready to go (as opposed to being in a remote island with no lithium batteries on hand).
Couple things I would like to change of a minor nature are the brightness of the watchface in land mode, and the font size in dive mode (for folks over 45). I can see this stuff, but have to work a little harder to do so. Also, I don’t know whether 1) the GPS function for dive mode will store/retrieve the lat – long coordinates; it is clear the locations are stored graphically, but sometimes you need the details for that choice dive spot. 2) Whether the Garmin Connect app can be used for the PC. This might help for long-term planning on the map, and manipulation of data for archival purposes. Regardless, the watch is light years ahead of other competitors!
As a diver for 25 years certified by YMCA, PADI, SDA, SSI, at least half of that serving as a divemaster, a public safety diver, this is an awesome watch. Guys will love that it is so many watches in one: a watch, a fitness watch, a GPS, a heart monitor; and of course, a dive computer!
Great Job Garmin. THIS is the new standard for dive computer watches!
UPDATE:
Garmin added the lat long coordinates in the app, so that’s covered too. Two years later and I still love the watch; plus its priced $200 less than before!

Great piece of equipment to have for diving and every day wear..

I’ve had this watch for about 2 months now. Just went to Hawaii and my dive tour cancelled on me. 😕. So I only have 2 dives in it. I’ve also used it for running and daily wear.
Pros:.
– easy to wear, looks nice, not to heavy
– battery life is awesome, I’m getting about 10-12 days per charge. Most of my exer9 is weight lifting during which I do not wear it doe to it not fitting well with weight gloves. So limited activity.
-Dive functions on the 2 dives I have done worked well and are intuitive.
-app is really quite nice and watch has a lot of good features. Not as comprehensive as an iwatch in terms of function, but still syncs well with Android phone for messages and to let you know who’s calling. And I don’t have to pay for a data plan, which is why I think it’s better than the iwatch.
Cons-
-. Could have made the screen a little brighter and more crisp. Image on outside of box is misleading as the colors are not real vivid or bright. But if I had to classify it, it’s “sufficient”,but that’s all it is on the display and brightness.
-dont like that you have to use the app for certain functions. Would prefer to be able to control everything for the watch on the device itself, but not that big of an issue. Who doesn’t have a smart phone anymore, especially that buys a watch for $800+
I’m not a prolific diver and just dive a few times a year, so I wanted a watch that served other interests than just diving and this has been a great choice. As would be expected from garmin, it’s an excellent exercise watch with fast and accurate gps.
If you’re looking for an all around wear and use in multiple capacities watch, this will be a great fit. If you’re looking for the best dive computer, there are probably better dive specific computers. For my needs it was the perfect fit.

Overall a good watch and dive computer, but…
The usability leaves a lot to be desired. Both on the unit itself and the app. The interface and usability are extremely unintuitive. It pains me to say it but it looks like it was designed by an engineers. And I’m an engineer. 🙂
It’s very extendable, but the app developer community look like they’re just a bunch of amature hobeyists.
Comparing it to a Fitbit Blaze for everyday use, there is no comparison. The Blaze is so much more convenient. A simple thing like having the unite wake up and display the time and heart rate when you bring up you arm, makes it so much more convenient if your hands are full.
To get the Descent to just show the time so it’s visible, I need to reach over and push a button on the left side. Just too many things like that to mention.
In the end of the day I did buy it for the diving and as such it is a good computer and so much more. Perhaps it’s so feature rich htat it’s just impossible to make an easy interface and still give you access to all the information, but if i were Garmin I would go and hire the design team from Fitbit.

Garmin just throw the ball out of the park with this one. If you are into multi sport this is the one to get! A little bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. The watch automatically transfer all the data to the phone ( you already know that but still its a great feature).
I primarily bought it because it’s a dive computer capable of showing all data in the phone (but air consumption). I also do running, weights, kayaking…The more I use it the more I like it.
Pro:
Simple to use
Good battery life
No need to change altitude the computer does adjust automatically
Transfer all data to phone including the heart rate under water
Smart watch
Been able to change faces, download widgets
Keep track of all your activities
And list goes on and on….
Cons
No Air consumption

Very happy with this watch. Was easy to use during scuba diving activities and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was so versatile outside of the water. To be honest it’s a lot of money to spend on a watch but I got more than I was expecting as I was only expecting a dive computer. Very happy with this one. My only concern was the explosive diarrhea it caused which was frightening when the sharks were close by (not true 🤣)
