Considering Rasbery pi is way overpriced this is a great way to use for ai projects

The Seeed Studio reComputer J4012, built around the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB module, is a beast of a machine in a small fan-cooled enclosure. As someone exploring AI model deployment and robotics, I’ve been really impressed with how much power this little box packs.
Highlights:
✅ Real AI Muscle in a Small Box – The Orin NX can run real-time inferencing and complex deep learning models locally — no cloud dependency. This is crucial for robotics, smart cameras, or anything that requires low-latency AI.
✅ Ready to Go Out of the Box – With JetPack and Ubuntu pre-installed, setup was super simple. I was running Python scripts and containers within minutes.
✅ Robotics-Ready I/O – With HDMI, USB 3.2, Ethernet, M.2, and GPIO headers, it’s built for sensor integration. It supports cameras, depth sensors, and even Lidar — which I plan to explore soon for mapping and SLAM projects, as well as home security and automation.
✅ Great for Prototyping and Deployment – I’m currently developing a stock prediction model on my main PC and deploying it to the J4012 to run continuously. This setup is ideal for testing real-world AI applications on the edge.
Why choose this over a gaming PC?
While the price tag is close to that of a high-end gaming PC, the purpose is entirely different. The J4012 is built for efficient AI at the edge, delivering up to 100 TOPS of AI performance with far less power draw. It’s perfect for embedded use cases — robotics, IoT, smart sensors — where it is not feasible to run a full PC.
This is not just about horsepower — it’s about purpose-built AI deployment.
A few considerations:
🔌 Power Supply Included… Almost – The power brick (12V/5A) is included, but the AC wall cord is not. You’ll need to supply a standard IEC C13 cable. I used this one from Amazon, which works perfectly:

My thoughts:
If you’re serious about edge AI, robotics, or vision-based applications, the reComputer J4012 is absolutely worth the investment. It delivers high-end AI power in a compact, quiet, and developer-friendly package that’s ready for the real world. Highly recommended.

NO CARD SUPPORT, SO YOU NEED A LINUX HOST TO FLASH OR MANAGE PACKAGES. HAVE TO USE JUMPERS TO PUT THE BOARD INTO SAFE BOOT MODE, SO THAT THE DEVICE IS DISCOVERABLE BY THE SDK MANAGER. THIS IS SOMETHING UNIQUE TO THE SEED BOARD, AND NOT EASILY FOUND ON THE SUPPORT PAGES. THERE SEEM TO BE A NUMBER OF OTHER HARDWARE CONCESSIONS AND WORKAROUNDS UNIQUE TO THIS CARRIER BOARD INCLUDING THE LACK OF SUPPORT FOR SUPER MODE. WAY MARKED UP FROM WHAT NIVIDIA SUGGESTS THEY SHOULD SELL FOR, BUT, THERE ARE FEW OPTIONS OR ALTERNATIVES. IF YOU ARE PLAYING, STICK WITH A PI5 FOR NOW

El equipo llego en buen estado y todo operativo.

There is no issue with this device. received in sealed in the Nvidia package and it was delivered promptly.

It has a cord that connects from the power supply unit (the little box in the middle of the power cord) to the device but it is not have a cord that connects from the wall to that PSU. It looks like what is needed is an iec 60320 c5. I am going to buy that now. Until then, I cannot provide any other feedback because I am not able to use it. Frustrating!
